Family/Child Therapy
Presently, I work with adolescents 16 and older.
Adolescents experience a range of emotional experiences in this life stage. They are simultaneously figuring out themselves and the world. I work with adolescents to assist them in discovering more about who they are, how they experience emotions and how to better cope with everything that comes their way.
Adolescents are intertwined with several systems and the home environment is often the most important one. As a result, I work with adolescents to improve connection with their parents/caregivers in a healthy way. This means I will want to include the parents during certain parts of the process. This allows me to better understand the individual challenges for your adolescent, while also assisting all of you in learning how to build your relationship with each other.
Typical Concerns: Child's anxiety or depression, ADHD, behavioral issues at home/school, parenting issues, disconnection between family members, yelling/fighting in the family, distrust, secrecy, over-involvement of extended family members, disconnection due to different world views, religious views, etc.
