EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an evidenced based approach to assist people in recovering from trauma, and other distressing life experiences including PTSD, anxiety, depression and panic disorders (www.emdria.org). When an individual experiences an upsetting or confusing event, the information from that experience gets “stuck” or “locked” in our systems. That experience can be easily activated by present triggers and make us feel as if we’re living that event on repeat. EMDR assists our nervous system in reprocessing the event to allow for greater integration of cognitive and emotional experiences in our every day lives.
